Time To Get Fit
It's been particularly gloomy in central Jersey these past few days, much like my mood. Have you ever realized how much the weather outside actually effects our mood that day? Winter makes me so lazy that all I ever want to do at home is lay in bed but with the weather getting nicer, that's about to change. April will be a very busy month for me as will May and I've decided to shed a few of the pounds I've packed on during the past year or so. Personally, I find it very difficult to stick to a routine when working out and that hasn't helped my weight loss journey one bit. I don't plan on being super fit, but to just shed a few of the excess pounds I've gained, gain a little muscle and be healthier overall would definitely be nice!
Now, I'm trying a new approach. I figured maybe writing a blog post about the start of my journey will motivate me to get fit. Since it's public maybe it will push me to work until I get the results that I want. I won't be posting any pictures specifically to show my progress or anything like that, but hopefully you can all see the results in any future pictures I may put up on social media. From today I plan on eating a lot cleaner than I did before (sadly, no more milkshakes) and going to the gym at least 5 times a week. For me, cardio is the most intimidating so I feel like if I can push myself through some extra cardio the rest of my workout won't be as daunting.
As for food, I guess it's time for me to go back to having a solid breakfast of avocado toast and green tea and a lunch or dinner of grilled chicken/salad. My snacks usually consist of whatever I'm in the mood for in a very VERY small portion but I recently discovered a brand called Way Better Snacks thanks to Influenster. I was sent a pack of the Sweet Chili Corn Tortilla Chips that are sold at Target and they're actually REALLY GOOD (specially with some home made salsa). They're so much healthier for you than regular tortilla chips but they help with my major junk food cravings. After I finished that pack I went to target and stocked up!
So anyways, let's hope that I can stick to my workout routine and healthy eating! If any of you out there are struggling to find motivation to get fit, what's always helped me is to watch tons of YouTube videos of workout routines or 'What I Eat In A Day' type videos! I recently also added Thuy (thuy-nguyen) from Pink Orchid Studio and Herbalife on Snapchat. Watching the snaps of her meals, shakes and workouts is excellent motivation, specially for when I don't feel like moving a muscle! Thuy and her boyfriend Karan make working out and eating healthy look so easy and fun and definitely help me get off my lazy butt and into the gym. Hopefully in a few months I'll have some tips that work for me and I'll be able to share them in a video on my channel! Until then, wish me luck on my fitness journey!
